Last Tasted 1/92
This outstanding Hermitage is one of the few 1983s that is actually drinking well - at present. Dark ruby/purple, with a big, smoky, earthy, cassis-scented nose, this full-bodied 1983 is unctuous on the palate, with smooth tannins, low acidity, and super ripeness. Because of its precociousness and outstanding showing at the moment, it is an atypical 1983, which, as a general rule, remain extremely promising but oh, so hard, and forbiddingly impenetrable and backward. Anticipated maturity: now-2001.
