The 2014 Meursault Blagny 1er Cru has a Puligny-like bouquet, quite strict with cold granite and fumé-like aromas that take their time to unfurl. The palate is refined on the entry with a squeeze of sour lemon. It is certainly nicely composed and declines to be “racy” in any way, preferring to gently building to a hazelnut-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. This is a diffident, but lovely Meursault.
