The 1998 Paleo is a barrique-aged blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. Displaying a Cheval Blanc-like complexity, it offers a profound aromatic smorgasbord of spice box, cedar, licorice, menthol, and juicy black currants and blackberries. Medium to full-bodied, with superb palate presence, great precision as well as purity, and well-integrated acidity, tannin, and alcohol (13.5%) in its long, seamless finish, it should drink well for 10-15 years.
