The 2006 Cyclo contains 10% Blanca del Pais. Grapes were sourced from two vineyards ranging in age from 80 to 150 years. Two-thirds of the wine was naturally fermented in barrel, the rest in unlined cement. The cement-aged portion spent 13 months in barrel, the barrel-fermented portion 19 months. A glass-staining opaque purple, the bouquet gets a lift from the Blanca del Pais. Lavender, leather, smoke, blackberry, and black cherry aromas lead to a dense, ripe, structured wine with outstanding concentration and incipient complexity. This spicy effort will have a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2030.
