This meticulously produced wine is sourced from 85- to 100+-year-old Tempranillo vines with a tiny amount of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in the blend. Torremilanos makes its own barrels, purchasing, aging, and coopering the wood. The 2003 Cyclo, which spends 18 months in new French oak, is purple-colored with complex aromas of mineral, vanilla, toast, spice box, blackberry, and licorice. Sumptuous on the palate with layer upon layer of sweet black fruits, terrific concentration, and well-integrated tannins, this full-bodied wine is surprisingly forward and hedonistically styled. It is capable of making old bones but hard to resist now.
