Regrettably, I was not permitted to taste this domaine's Aloxe-Cortons, Beaunes, Corton Le Corton or Corton Bressandes in January because they were being filtered at bottling. However I was given the opportunity to taste two delicious reds as well as the wonderful Corton Charlemagne. Possessing a ruby color and blackberry, mineral and earth-infused aromatics, the Savigny-Les-Beaune Les Lavieres is a medium-bodied, silky-textured wine with sweet wild cherry, pickling spice and mineral flavors. Its long finish terminates with soft, round tannins. Delicious to drink, it will last at least until 2002 given proper shipping and storage.
As always, ratings with a score in parentheses indicate the wine was tasted from cask, not bottle.
