Displaying more finesse than normal, this tiny gem of a property (just under 12 acres) owned by Baron Guichard is planted with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The 2012 exhibits lots of mocha, fudge and espresso notes as well as some underlying herbaceousness, plenty of sweet black cherry and black currant fruit, earth, background wood, licorice and spice box characteristics. This medium-bodied, chunky, fleshy, well-made 2012 should drink well for 15 or more years. Sadly, it is difficult to find in the marketplace.
