The 2008 Old Bastard is 100% Shiraz off 115 year old bush vines. Very deep purple-black colored, the nose is youthfully mute giving subtle notes of damp soil and underbrush over a floral scents, dark cherries, crushed blueberries, mulberries, nutmeg, allspice and a whiff of cardamom. With coaxing, aromas of chocolate and menthol emerge. The palate is very full-bodied and richly fruited with a high level of enlivening acid, firm, very finely textured tannins and a long mocha and baking spice finish. Consider broaching this beauty from 2013 and drink to 2022+.
