The single vineyard cuvee of 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Patzimaro Vineyard Estate (470 cases) plays it closer to the vest. Its personality is similar to that of the Estate cuvee, but it is leaner in the mouth, with more acidity as well as some austerity in the finish. Duckhorn has an absolutely consistent track record with this bottling from St. Helena, and there’s no way they’re stopping now. The 2004 is riper and softer than its predecessors, but no less rewarding. It shows elaborately ripe black currant, cherry, chocolate, cedar and violet flavors, and is very well oaked, just oozing vanilla caramel. Drink now or soon.——S.H.(6/1/2008)—— 92
