A new discovery for me, this tiny producer owns only 3.2 acres of vines that boast an average age of 35 years. After 12 months in large oak foudres the wine is bottled unfiltered. The first vintage I tasted from proprietor Gilbert Serette, the 1991, possesses a saturated purple/black color, a rich nose of truffles, black-cherries, and other ripe red and black fruits, full body, exceptional richness, a layered feel on the palate, and a long, surprisingly supple, voluptuous finish. There is plenty of extract, but none of the ferocious tannin frequently seen in Cornas. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA.
