The dark ruby/purple-tinged 2010 St.-Joseph Les Pierres is slightly austere, tannic, and possibly under-nourished from a fruit perspective. Although somewhat closed and angular, it reveals attractive berry fruit intermixed with tobacco leaf, truffle and earth notes. Consume it over the next few years. Two cuvees of St.-Joseph are produced, including Les Pierres (which comes from stony soils) and the Clos de Cuminaille (which is a true “Clos”).
