Tasted at the Denis Mortet Chambertin vertical, the 2000 Chambertin Grand Cru has a dense, rather oaky bouquet with touches of incense and violet struggling to get their voices heard through that carapace of wood. The palate is medium-bodied, a little obdurate with firm, rigid tannin. It is a foursquare, serious Chambertin that is decent enough, just not much fun. Tasted January 2016.
