Tasted at the Denis Mortet Chambertin vertical, the 1995 Chambertin Grand Cru has a fragrant red berry and rose petal-scented bouquet with a hint of dried orange peel. It certainly represents one of the more attractive aromatics from the decade. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a touch of mushroom and earthiness infusing the red berry fruit. It is loose-knit and perhaps lacks a bit of weight in the mouth, although there is decent length. I would have liked more personality to come through here. This is probably ready to drink whereas the 1996 seems to have more longevity. Tasted January 2016.
