Always this estate’s most Syrah-dominated wine, the 2003 Nemeses is a blend of 82% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, and 8% Grenache. Sadly, only 200 cases were produced of this exceptionally fragrant effort. Aromas of acacia flowers, blackberry liqueur, camphor, and a hint of barrique are followed by a wine with tremendous stuffing, a rich, full-bodied, multilayered mid-palate, and a ripe finish displaying sweet, but noticeable tannin. It will benefit from 1-2 more years of cellaring, and should age easily for a decade. As I have written over the last several years, Linne Calodo is a name to take seriously as it represents a reference point for what can be achieved in California’s Central Coast.Tel. (805) 227-0797
