A success in a difficult vintage, the 1950 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru offers up aromas of camphor, smoky dried red fruits, rose petal and mushroom. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and melting, with a mid-palate sweetness that suggests appreciable chaptalization was needed this year. While it isn't a great wine, it's much more successful than the equivalently challenging vintages of the 1980s.
