The dark ruby/purple-tinged 2006 Hermitage, from Les Plantes, Les Greffieux, and Les Bessards vineyards, offers notes of framboise, cassis, olives, and lavender, medium to full body, and attractively sweet tannins. Made in a surprisingly up-front forward style for a Sorrel wine, it should drink well for 10-15 years.
This is one of the most traditionally run domaines of the northern Rhone. For a number of years, Sorrel has been adding a white and red Crozes-Hermitage to his small portfolio.
