The 2007 Shiraz 1880 was sourced from the estate’s original vines planted in 1880 and aged for 18 months in 67% new French oak. Purple-colored, the wine is muted aromatically and slightly compact and tannic on the palate. Aside from that, it displays ample smoky, blueberry, and spicy fruit that could balance the plentiful, but ripe tannins with another 3-4 years of cellaring. At the asking price, it represents a considerable gamble.Importer: Epicurean Wines, Seattle, WA; tel. (206) 923-1376
