The 1986 Dauzac was actually tasted from large format at the Academie du Vin tasting in Bordeaux and perhaps the size of bottle enhanced the showing of this Margaux. Frankly, I found the nose rather disappointing given the vintage: diffuse, earthy with singed leather scents and insufficient fruit. The palate had more to offer with light red and black fruit, balanced but rather hard in the mouth with a slightly brutish, dry finish. It was a perfectly drinkable wine but at 30-years-old, but does not elicit much excitement. Tasted April 2016.
