The 1993 Ornellaia Vino da Tavola is a dense ruby/purple-colored wine with copious quantities of chocolatey, berry fruit, obvious evidence of toasty new oak, medium to full body, silky tannin, and a long, rich finish. Amazingly, it held up for 48 hours in a decanter without aeration. It can be drunk now as well as over the next 10-12 years. The Marchese Lodovico Antinori makes these luxuriously fruity, rich wines from his vineyards in Bolgheri, an area not far from the famed Sassicaia. With the help of Bordeaux's brilliant oenologist, Michel Rolland, these wines seem to be going from strength to strength.
