The 2013 Colección Privada is usually sourced from two vineyards in San Vicente de la Sonsierra: Jarrarte and Valgrande, planted in the late 1950s. The wine matured in new oak barrels, 50% French and 50% American. 2013 was a very challenging vintage. It was very wet, but in the end it produced fresher, lighter wines, which might not fit the more traditional style. This cuvée has always been quite ripe with aromas of raspberry and strawberry, juicy and a little marked by the toasted notes from the barrel. It has a soft texture and is juicy, approachable and easy to drink. It is less powerful than other vintages, perhaps. This is always one of their more commercial wines, ready and open. 11,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2015.
