The 2007 La Mala was sourced from a single 60+-year-old vineyard and was aged in 50% new French oak for 16 months. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it exhibits an expressive nose of spice box, violets, mineral, espresso, and blackberry. On the palate it has outstanding volume and intensity, loads of savory black fruit and spice notes, licorice and enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years. Drink this lengthy effort from 2013 to 2027.
The 2007 vintage was variable in Ribera del Duero but Dominio de Atauta produced solid wines.
