One of the great values in the marketplace, even with the frightfully weak American dollar, is the 2002 Gotim Bru, a blend of 65% Tempranillo, 20% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 11 months in one-year old French and American oak barrels. Even better news is that there are 25,000 cases in the American market. This is a custom cuvee selected and blended by importer Eric Solomon (the European Cellars name will be on the back label), so European subscribers will be confronted with a completely different wine. A dense plum/ruby color is accompanied by aromas of melted chocolate, roasted coffee beans, and plenty of sweet black cherry fruit. This dense, corpulent, earthy red possesses rich fruit, medium body, not a great deal of complexity, but a mouthfilling generosity. It will provide a lot of pleasure over the next 2-3 years.
