The 2010 Corton-Greves comes across as deep, dark and muscular. It shows marvelous density and richness in its black cherry fruit. Hints of tar, licorice and spices develop in the glass, but it is really the wine's minerality that stands out most. Waves of fruit continue to blossom through to the intense, saline finish. This is a great showing. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022.
Domaine des Croix is just around the corner from Camille Giroud, where winemaker David Croix is also in charge. The Domaine des Croix wines are typically made in a forward, fruit-driven style. Although the wines can age, my preference is to drink them on the young side. In 2010, yields came in around 20-25 hectoliters, very low by any measure. I tasted most of the 2010s from barrel, except as noted.
