The 1981 is a fine example of Latour a Pomerol. However, it has subsequently been eclipsed by both the 1982 and 1983 wines. Moderately dark in color for a 1981, with a dense, ripe, rich, medium-bodied texture on the palate, this well-balanced wine offers a velvety mouthful of wine, but it is less impressive than I originally thought. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 3/89.
