The second vintage of their luxury cuvee, the 1991 Hermitage Les Bessards (named after one of the tenderloin vineyards of the great dome of granite - the hill of Hermitage), is an impressive, outstanding wine with a deep purple color, plenty of peppery, cassis fruit, and minerals in the nose, tightly wound, full-bodied flavors that exhibit terrific extract, and a long, muscular, powerful finish. It needs another 5-6 years of cellaring, and should keep for 20-30 years. It is uncertain in what direction this firm is going to move, but given the competition in the worldwide marketplace, Delas Freres' wines have to improve, particularly at the lower level.Importer: Champarhone, Inc.
