The 2013 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is nicely defined on the nose, not a million miles away from Bernard's Lavaux Saint Jacques '13 at the moment. The palate is more powerful though, with very supple ripe, almost thick tannins, and a very weighty finish that feels more like a Clos-de-Bèze. This muscular Charmes-Chambertin will need several years in bottle.
