The 2007 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is drinking well today, offering up a rich and complex bouquet of cassis and cherries mingled with forest floor, dark chocolate and warm spices. Full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, it's open and expressive, built around velvety and largely melted tannins, but it doesn't have the depth and concentration of the 1999 tasted alongside it, nor the purity of fruit and structural elegance of the 2017.
