From a vineyard in conversion to organic viticulture, the 2008 Heerkretz Riesling GG shows a golden-yellow color and a clear, precise and elegant, remarkably aromatic apricot bouquet with saline and flinty nuances. Round and lush on the palate as well as savory and saline, this is a charming but also finely tannic Riesling from a coolish year and is accordingly based on extremely late-picked grapes. Harvested between October 13 and November 10, this is a very well balanced, elegant and dense but also juicy and finely structured Riesling classic from the good old days. The wine develops enormous length and tension paired with lush and elegant as well as aromatic fruit. With 2010 and 2013, this is one of my favorite vintages of this Heerkretz vertical. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from magnum at the domaine in late August 2023.
